Most Mercedes-Benz race cars are in a recognizable sparkling silver color. But, this wasn't just another color for them. What's the main reason the iconic silver color was used?
Answer To save weight
Weirdly enough, the Mercedes-Benz sparking silver color was used to save weight. Back in 1934 when the W25 race car debuted at Nurburgring, it was one kilogram over the weight limit. As such, the racing team decided to take off the white paint, which resulted in the famous silver we all know. The car won the race, and also the color became iconic for the models to come.
