"Mai Apni Jhansi Nahi Dungi" ("I shall not surrender my Jhansi")! Dressing as a man to fight, who is this symbol of resistance to the British Raj?
Answer Lakshmi Bai
Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi, was the Indian queen of Jhansi and a leading figure in the rebellion against the British Raj in 1857. Having trained in sword fighting, riding, and martial arts as a child, at the young age of 22, Lakshmi led troops in a mutiny against the East India Company, who refused to recognize the legitimacy of her adopted heir, placing a company agent in charge of the kingdom instead. After many successful battles, Lakshmi was killed in combat, dressed as a man, and, per her request, was cremated so that the British forces would not take possession of her body.
