The first American film to be shot wholly in Italy, Roman Holiday, released in 1953, follows Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck on a joyous jaunt around the titular city. One of the most iconic scenes features Hepburn eating gelato on the Spanish Steps. In fact, after the film premiered, the place became so popular that Rome has since banned gelato on the Steps, as well as sitting. If you're caught doing either, you'll receive a hefty fine.
