Lonesome George was arguably the most famous resident to ever live at the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz Island. What was Lonesome George?
Answer A rare tortoise
Lonesome George was found on Pinta Island in 1971, and was at the time considered one of the rarest creatures in the world as his species was just about extinct. He was "lonesome" because they could never get him to mate with females. George died at close to age 100 in 2012.
