Living in San Diego can mean a lot of tan weathermen predicting conditions will be "just like yesterday". But what is a San Diego weatherman predicting when he's warning of "Santa Anas"?
Answer Strong winds
Santa Anas blow from east to west. They're caused when high pressure forms over the dry deserts of Nevada and Utah and lower atmospheric pressure sits on the coast. As the winds crosses over the coastal hills and heads down towards the Pacific ocean, the wind compresses and heats up.
