Though it's not on any official records, the quote, “Let them eat cake,” is attributed to the last Queen of France, who notoriously threw lavish parties while famine swept across the country. Antoinette was executed by guillotine after being convicted of high treason in 1793 by the Revolutionary Tribunal.
