1917 was a revolutionary year for Russia. The country saw two revolutions: one in February, which overthrew the government, and one in November, which replaced them with the Bolsheviks, led by Lenin. Why is it called the October Revolution if it happened in November? Because the dominant Eastern Orthodox church had not adopted the Gregorian calendar, using the Julian instead.
