Yon-Rogg was the commander of the elite Kree military unit known as Starforce. After he and Minn-Erva were sent to kill Mar-vell on Earth, they discovered that Carol Danvers had developed powers after being exposed to the explosion of Mar-vell's ship that was powered by Tesseract technology. Yon-Rogg then took Carol Danvers believing they could train her into becoming a weapon.
