Known for white sand beaches and tequila, this southern North American country’s flag has the same colors as that of Italy. What country is it?

The flag of Mexico's colors were adopted by the country after it gained independence from Spain in 1921. The coat of arms on the flag features an eagle holding a snake perched on top of a prickly pear cactus. The cactus is on a rock which rises above a lake. Its imagery comes from an Aztec legend that says the gods told them to build a city where they saw an eagle eating a serpent on a nopal, and that is now Mexico City.
