Known as the "The Maid of Orléans," who is this French military leader?
Answer Joan of Arc
Called the “Holy Virgin” and "The Maid of Orléans,” Joan of Arc led the French through some tough times during the Hundred Years’ War. The peasant girl was visited by visions of saints and the archangel Michael, who encouraged her to support King Charles VII’s claim to the throne. Unfortunately, after leading the French to victory in a number of battles, Joan was captured and handed over to the English, who burned her at the stake at the age of nineteen.
