Japan and the Allied Forces fought using only aircraft, leading to Japan's first defeat in the war. Name history's first air-sea battle.
Answer Battle of the Coral Sea
Japan was going full throttle until May of 1942, when the Imperial Japanese military suffered its first defeat. Notably the first air-sea battle in history, the Battle of the Coral Sea began when Allied forces intercepted the Japanese plan to invade Port Moresby in New Guinea. An American task force of aircraft carrier planes attacked the Japanese when they landed in the region, forcing the Imperial Army to rethink their strategy.
