It's the biggest freshwater lake in Florida and the 8th largest natural freshwater lake in the U.S. But how do you spell it?
Answer Lake Okeechobee
The name "Okeechobee" comes from the Hitchiti words oki, which means water, and chubi, which means big. Pretty much sums it up! The lake covers 730 square miles, but is only about 9 feet deep on average. The source of Lake Okeechobee's water is the Kissimmee River, which flows into it.
