Tenzin Gyatso is more commonly known as the Dalai Lama, though is somewhat unwieldy spiritual name is Jetsun Jamphel Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenzin Gyatso. He's known to be a brilliant and innovative thinker, which is why he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, and the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal in 2006. He's often considered to be Mahatma Gandhi's "spiritual heir to nonviolence."
