It is debatable whether this sedan is actually British as it's based on a German model. Still, it was the British engineers who tuned to reach a top speed of 177 mph. Can you identify it?
Answer Lotus Carlton
The Lotus Carlton has a complicated lineage. It was based on the Opel Omega executive sedan that was sold in the UK as the Vauxhall Carlton and upgraded by Lotus - a company best-known for racecars. The result was impressive - when the Carlton came out, it was the fastest sedan in the world with it 177 mph top speed and the 0-60 time of only 5.2 seconds.
