Introduced to Spain by the Moors, Alquerque is believed to be a forbearer of which popular board game?
Answer Checkers
Alquerque, also known as Qirkat (from Arabic), is a war game in which players move across the board horizontally, vertically, and diagonally to capture their opponent's pieces. Although the first written mention of the game is in a 10th-century text, it wasn't until the 13th century that the rules were codified (in King Alfonso X's Libro de Los Juegos ("Book of Games")).
