In 1974, three farmers digging a well stumbled upon what turned out to be one of the most amazing archaeological sites of all time: the c. 210 BC tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Chinese Emperor. The massive tomb contains nearly 10,000 life-sized terracotta figurines representing the Emperor's armies, buried with him for protection in the afterlife.
