In which decade did the first movie theater open?
Answer 1900s
In 1905, the first public cinema opened in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The 96-seat "Nickelodeon" theater presented short films as well as vaudeville acts and charged five cents for admission (the name is a combination of this entry cost and the Greek word for theater). Similar theaters soon popped up all over the United States; millions of Americans had visited one by 1910, when large, modern theaters started taking over.
