In what year did Rockefeller Center start putting up its famous Christmas tree?

Although a tree was erected in Rockefeller Center unofficially years before, in 1933, the first official Rockefeller tree was decorated, starting an annual tradition that remains to this day. The first tree was 50 foot tall, and the tallest tree on record was 100 feet tall in 1999. The skating rink joined the tree in 1936.
