In the liner notes to the compilation "Peel Slowly and See," who wrote: "[The song] 'Rock and Roll' is about me. If I hadn't heard rock and roll on the radio, I would have had no idea there was life on this planet"?

Answer Lou Reed

The Velvet Underground's song "Rock and Roll" was recorded in 1969, during their final weeks with the Verve label, but the well-known version appears on their 1970 album Loaded. The website Songfacts.com describes the song: "It's done loose and lazy, perfect for the subject, but subtly averting it at the same time."
