In the glamorous world of egg sales, how does the USDA determine if an egg can be labeled "large"?
Answer If a dozen of them weigh a certain amount
Because eggs can vary from individual egg to individual egg, the only way the USDA can certify that any given dozen can be labeled "large" is to weigh all 12 of them. For them to be called "large," the entire dozen has to weigh between 24 and 27 ounces.
