Released at the height of railroad mania in 1893, The Game of Uncle Sam's Mail was a celebration of American industry and progress (that also happened to teach kids a little geography). Unfortunately, 1893 also marked the start of the largest economic depression the country had experienced up to that point: the Panic of 1893. The primary cause of the collapse? Railroad overbuilding. By mid-1894, 25% of U.S. railroads were bankrupt.
