In Exodus 16, what kind of bird does God allow to swarm the Israelite camp to provide them with meat to eat?

God allowed thousands of quail to drop into their camp so they could eat fresh meat. It must of been a wild scene, seeing starving desert dwellers scramble to capture birds to eat. Kind of feel sorry for the quail though.
