In an attempt to design a new national flag, which nation fielded many contenders with kiwi birds on them?

New Zealand's national flag contains the Union Jack and is very similar to Australia's flag, so they launched a campaign in 2015 to design a new national flag. The competition was open to the public, which admittedly may have been a mistake, considering the results. Many submissions featured the kiwi bird – the national bird of New Zealand – some with lasers coming out of its eyes.
