The Oregon teams were originally known as Webfoots in the late 1890s and that name became official in 1932. Because of their webbed feet, ducks were soon associated with the team, and in 1978 a student designed a Mallard Drake mascot for the school. But - maybe due to a lack of imagination - a vast majority of students chose Donald Duck instead.
