Answer Colombia
After 69 years of dormancy, on November 13 1985 the Nevado del Ruiz stratovolcano in Tolima, Colombia suddenly erupted. The eruption caused enormous lahars (volcanically induced landslides) which engulfed the town of Armero, killing more than 20,000 or its almost 29,000 inhabitants.
