If you want to visit this unforgettable site, you may have to swim to it. To what country does this island city belong?

Answer France

Mont-Saint-Michel of the coast of Brittany and Normandy is a stunning site along the bay. The island city was built by Bishop Aubert in the 8th century after the Archangel Michael came to him in a dream and ordered him to build a church on the island. The site has become a place of Christian pilgrimage, and Mont-Saint-Michel has developed into a Benedictine abbey. You don't really have to swim there though. Just make sure to cross at low tide.
