If you thought Rosa Parks was the first to protest on a bus, Amber Ruffin has a story for you about which Civil Rights pioneer?

Answer Claudette Colvin

Amber Ruffin describes Rosa Parks' lesser-known predecessor, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin. Colvin was the first African-American to publicly refuse to give up her bus seat to a white person. After hearing about the incident, Rosa Parks and crew led the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Colvin, however, challenged the law in court, which overturned the bus segregation laws in Alabama. Needless to say, both women deserve all the accolades they've earned.
