The United States is the world's third most populous country, with over 330 million inhabitants in 2020, and its population is predicted to rise by another 18.5 million people over the following decade. Clearly, the country's population density will grow in a number of states as well. Currently, New Jersey is the most densely inhabited state. Rhode Island is ranked second, while Massachusetts is ranked third.
