In 1998, the Boryeong Mud Festival was born. With mud transported to Daecheon beach from the Boryeong mud flats, the stage is set for "Mud Experience Land" – the experience being to throw mud at each other. The annual event in Boryeong, South Korea attracts around 2 million participants a year.
