How well do you know your order of operations?
6 / 2(1+2) = ?
Answer 9
Using the proper order of operations acronym known as PEMDAS, you should first do the operations in parentheses, adding 1+2. Then, take 6 divided by two, giving you 3, and multiply it by the 3 you got in the first step for a total of 9. Some argue that, due to an obscure historical order of operations, 1 is a correct answer. However, we practice modern math in the 21st century and that gives us a true correct answer of 9.
