How much weight does it take to crush a concrete cylinder?
Answer 1.6 million pounds of force
In 2013, a demonstration was done during Engineering Day at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. During this particular demo, a mechanical press machine applied varying degrees of pressure to a concrete pillar until it broke. At 1.6 million pounds of force, it cracked, but at a whopping 3 million pounds, it exploded.
