The Kansas City Chiefs have won 3 AFL Championship games. The first was in 1962 as the Dallas Texans when they defeated the Houston Oilers 20-17, and second and third were in 1967 and 1970 which took them to Super Bowls I and IV. The AFL and NFL officially merged in 1970 ending the AFL and creating the two NFL conferences of the AFC and NFC.
