Hitchcock's muse, this Philadelphia-born classic beauty became real life royalty as well as a Hollywood queen. Can you name her?
Answer Grace Kelly
Grace Kelly made an indelible mark on American cinema in an amazingly successful and, at just five years, amazingly brief Hollywood run. From 1951-1956, Kelly appeared in celebrated films alongside veritable superstars of the day, including Clark Gable and Ava Gardner in 'Mogambo', Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby in 'High Society', and again opposite Crosby in her Oscar-winning portrayal of Georgie Elgin in 'The Country Girl'. But she will likely be remembered best for her luminous performances in three iconic Hitchcock films: 'Rear Window', 'Dial M for Murder' and 'To Catch a Thief'. Then, she left it all behind to marry Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956 and never acted again. Before Kelly could marry the Prince and assume the title of Her Serene Highness, Princess Grace of Monaco, her family had to comply with one tricky old-world matter: the dowry. Fortunately, Kelly's father had made a fortune in the brick business and reportedly chipped in over $2 million to help cover the cost of their lavish 1956 wedding. Sadly, the Princess suffered a stroke while driving in Monaco in September of 1982 and did not survive the injuries she sustained in the subsequent car crash.
