The great Russian mystic Rasputin certainly had his haters. The first attempt on his life occurred in 1914, when prostitute Khioniya Guseva, who believed him to be the antichrist, reportedly stabbed him with a dagger in the stomach. He survived that attempt, and at least three more are said to have followed. The last succeeded, as he died by drowning in the Neva River.
