The Axis Powers of Germany, Italy, and Japan faced off against the Allied Powers of the United States, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union during WWII. The Axis countries agreed that Japan would dominate the Pacific and East Asia, Italy the Mediterranean, and Germany most of continental Europe.
