Hike out or stay and wait for help? Which factors do you take into consideration (i.e. which questions do you ask yourself or the group) when making this critical decision?

Answer All the above

This is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make in a survival ordeal and surprisingly to many, the answer may often NOT be to "stay put." There are many factors to take into consideration and sometimes its just going to be easier and faster to take yourself out rather than to sit on the shore of some lake or river or mountain ledge waiting for rescue. On the other hand, it could be a foolhardy mission to take on leaving a safe place to travel through treacherous areas to get out when help may be on its way.
