Toots and the Maytals were originally called The Maytals, and were formed in 1962. Frontman Toots Hibbert has often been compared to Otis Redding, and has been named one of Rolling Stone's greatest singers of all time. In 1980, the band recorded and sent their new album, Toots Live, to every record shop in one day in an attempt to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records.
