Florida was at it again in the year 2000. After the election in November went to a recount, who did George W. Bush beat out to win the presidency?

Answer Al Gore

On December 13, 2000, Al Gore was having a no good, very bad day. He ceded the presidency to George W. Bush after a cluster-mess of an election. The count was too close to call in Florida, and after a recount was ordered, the Supreme Court weighed in on December 12, saying: "Because it is evident that any recount seeking to meet the Dec. 12 date will be unconstitutional ... we reverse the judgment of the Supreme Court of Florida ordering the recount to proceed." And so, the Bush years began.
