Ever wondered why your windscreen doesn't reflect, causing you to crash? Because this inventor created non-reflective glass.
Answer Katharine Blodgett
Without Katharine Blodgett, you'd be blinded by the light. Blodgett was a scientist and inventor who researched and contributed to techniques and objects, including the de-icing of plane wings and the development of gas masks for the military. As the first woman to be hired on by General Electric, her chemical work led to her invention of non-reflective glass or "invisible" glass, which is used today in periscopes, movie projectors, camera lenses, eyeglasses, computer screens, and of course car windshields.
