Et tu, Brute? What is the name of the ancient empire that was established in 27 BC after the fall of its republic and was later split into two empires?

Answer Roman Empire

The Roman Empire was officially established in 27 BC after Julius Caesar's nephew Octavian defeated one of his co-rulers, Marc Antony, and became emperor under the name Augustus. In 395 Rome's empire was split in half, becoming the Western and Eastern Roman empires. The Western Roman Empire fell in 476, but the Eastern Empire lasted until the fall of Constantinople in 1453, which we now call the Byzantine Empire.
