During the fall season in a primarily deciduous forest, what is the best kind of shelter to construct?
Answer A big bunch of leaves like your dad used to make with a rake and then burrow inside
Few instructors teach or show you that you can just make a big pile of leaves and crawl inside like it's a cocoon. It works surprisingly well to keep you dry but its amazing how warm you can be in there as well. I have made these and been too hot in the cold fall of the year! You will have to watch for spiders and snakes and biting ants sometimes, and you will need a lot of leaves like maple leaves, but it will work and it can be a lifesaver.
