Dodge Charger is arguably one of the most popular cars from America, and is still in production in 2022. But when did it debut?

The Charger debuted in 1966 as a two-door fastback with a four-seat cabin. It shared many components with the Coronet, which was also based on the Chrysler B chassis. The first generation Charger was equipped with a V8 engine mated to a three-speed manual gearbox. In the upcoming years, the iconic 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 became available.
