Darren Cross was obsessed with Hank Pym's shrinking technology, but when Pym refused to share that knowledge, Cross forced him out of Pym technologies. When Cross finally discovered a new form of Pym particles, he applied them to a weaponized version of the Ant-Man suit that he created called Yellowjacket. After a battle with Ant-Man where he went subatomic, the Yellowjacket armor was broken and shrunk Cross and the suit down to subatomic size.
