Played by Pat Morita, Matsuo Takahashi owned the diner where the kids hung out, and was called Arnold by the gang. To avoid Asian stereotyping, the writers made him very pan-Asian. Arnold can do karate, dance and speak Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and English, and he was raised by a Chinese mother and a Japanese father.
