The origins of both the Saluki breed and the Saluki name are not exactly known. Depictions and archeological evidence of the Saluki date back to as much as 6,000 years ago, and the breed has been historically associated with the Fertile Crescent. These dogs were first brought to Europe in the mid-19th century and have become increasingly popular since then.
