Chiwetel Ejiofor is a freed slave who's kidnapped and sold into slavery in the South, this man's true story.

In his Oscar-nominated role in 12 Years a Slave, Chiwetel Ejiofor portrayed real-life Solomon Northup, who was the son of a freed slave who was kidnapped from the North and brought to the South to be sold into slavery. Of the film's violent scenes, Ejiofor said, "If you make a film about slavery you have to understand why people were in bondage in this way for 400 years, through mental and physical torture."
