Carrie Fisher helped to rewrite this script about a singer who hides out from the mob in a convent.

Although uncredited, Carrie Fisher is said to have helped fix the script once Bette Midler, who was originally going to play the lead character, backed out and Whoopi Goldberg was brought in. Nancy Meyers and Robert Harling also helped doctor the script.
