Captain America’s original super powered nemesis was the leader of Hydra. Who is this villain who used the Tesseract to create powerful weapons?

The head of Hydra, Johann Schmidt, forcefully stole Abraham Erskine's super soldier formula, that was later used to create Captain America. Once he injected himself with the serum, it deformed his face and changed the color of his head to red. After a fight with Captain America on board one of Red Skull's planes, Schmidt picked up the Tesseract and it transported him through space to the planet Vormir where he became the guardian of the Soul Stone.
