Can you name this iconic actress, style icon and humanitarian?

Answer Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn was born on May 4, 1929, to a Dutch Baroness and English/Austrian father. These aristocratic beginnings were followed by European boarding schools and elite ballet academies in London and Amsterdam. But Hepburn also knew suffering during her early life, including her father's abandonment of the family when she was six years old. She and her mother struggled to survive following the Nazi invasion of Holland. Hepburn suffered malnutrition and witnessed terrible atrocities during the German occupation. With just a few bit parts in English films and one starring turn on Broadway in 'Gigi', Hepburn beat out Liz Taylor for the lead role in 'Roman Holiday' (1951), for which she won Best Actress in the Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA awards. Multiple award-nominated roles in smash hit films followed, including 'Sabrina' (1954), 'Funny Face' (1957) and 'My Fair Lady' (1964). But her most iconic role was undoubtedly Holly Golightly from 1961's 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,’ which cemented her place in fashion icon history. The famous "little black dress" designed by Hubert de Givenchy that Hepburn wore in the film was sold at a 2006 Christie's auction for approximately $920,000. In 1967, Hepburn had just received an Oscar nomination for 'Wait Until Dark' and was arguably at the height of her career. However, Hepburn decided to retire from acting that year. Citing her gratitude for the humanitarian aid that helped her survive the German occupation as a child, she dedicated the remainder of her life to helping poor children around the world.
