Can EMTs perform surgery in the ambulance?

Answer No, they are not allowed to perform invasive procedures.

An EMT Basic may administer basic first aid, offer oxygen and even give medication that has already been prescribed for the person. They cannot perform invasive procedures like intubation or other surgical procedures. Further skilled care must be given by a licensed paramedic.
